Amendment C376: Sustainable Building Design was unanimously adopted at the 29 July Council Meeting – demonstrating our commitment to building a greener Melbourne.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved and provided feedback throughout the process.

The amendment is designed to help prioritise sustainable design and green infrastructure in new developments, including measures to:

  • green our city – with more greenery and gardens on rooftops and facades
  • improve building quality and performance – reducing operational costs for heating, cooling and water, and supporting net-zero emissions buildings
  • create a more liveable and sustainable city – combating the effects of climate change.
