Part 1 of Amendment C190 approved by Minister for Planning

October 25, 2017

The Minister for Planning has approved both Amendment C190 (Part 1) and Amendment C295.

Amendment C190 (Part 1) rezones the Macaulay precinct to encourage a wider mix of uses, including residential, retail and offices, and introduce building controls to guide new development.

Amendment C295 introduces an interim development contribution scheme over the area affected by Amendment C190 (Parts 1 and 2), to ensure that any new development contributes towards the cost of infrastructure needed by the new communities. The requirement to pay a monetary contribution applies to every site which is redeveloped for additional dwellings or commercial or retail floor area. The monetary contribution collected will be used by the State Government and the City of Melbourne to fund new and upgraded infrastructure in Macaulay such as schools, community facilities, roads and drainage works.
