Every year council prepares a draft Budget to show how we will finance the delivery of our program of works for the following financial year.

The draft Budget 2025–26 includes financial statements and other information including capital works, human resources and grants. It also includes information about rates and municipal charges.

From 13 May to 2 June, we consulted with the community on the draft Budget. We promoted the consultation and collected feedback through:

What we heard

During the consultation process, we heard from more than 1550 people, sharing their views on bike infrastructures, West Melbourne Structure Plan, city safety, waste and recycling, a Little India precinct, Queen Victoria Market, public transport and more.

Impact

As a result of community feedback, Council has made some adjustments and adopted the Budget 2025–26 at the 30 June Council Meeting.

As part of the resolution, Council resolved to invest around $15 million on bike infrastructure over the 2025–29 Council term.
