Have your say on Worms at Work

December 22, 2025

Are you heading out for a walk along the river this summer? Grabbing a coffee at ST Ali or a glass of wine at Susuro Urban Winery in Fishermans Bend?

While you’re there, keep an eye out for the Worms at Work benches.

So far, the three Worms at Work benches across Fishermans Bend have diverted 162 kg of food waste from landfill, avoiding approximately 243 kg of CO₂e emissions (roughly equivalent to driving 1,300 km in a petrol car), while also supporting the growth of healthy plants using compost created by the worms.

These benches are part of a pilot exploring how creative design, circular economy principles, and simple technology can come together to improve public spaces and reduce waste.

We’d love your feedback

We’re keen to hear what you think. Your feedback helps us improve the design during the pilot and better understand what our community would like to see us explore in future projects.

If you’ve already visited one of the Worms at Work benches, you can share your thoughts. Alternatively, next time you are in the area, stop by one of the locations, and scan the QR code on the signage to share your thoughts in real time.

Whether you’re curious, impressed, or have ideas for improvement, your input really does make a difference.
