The North Melbourne community has told us they would like to see more greening and open space around Errol Street.

We are seeking feedback on the proposal to create new open space by extending the much-loved and well-used Errol Street central median, just north of Queensberry Street.

We have prepared two options for open spaces of different sizes and configurations by reducing or removing lanes of traffic and some parking on Errol Street. We’d like your thoughts on whether you would support either option, or if you prefer no change.

Option one – Partial road closure

  • South bound lane of Errol Street will be closed.
  • 770 square metres of green space.
  • 16 additional trees.
  • Partial expansion from Queensberry Street to Bendigo Street, maintaining the northbound traffic lane on Errol Street.
  • Reduction of 10 car parking spaces (this includes one car space that is occupied by a street dining parklet).

Option two – Full road closure from Queensberry to Purcell Street

  • North and south bound lanes of Errol Street will be closed.
  • 1120 square metres of green space.
  • 18 additional trees.
  • Reduction of eight car parking spaces (this includes four car spaces that are occupied by street dining parklets).

There is also the ability to nominate to keep existing conditions - no change.
