Summary of feedback

August 6, 2018

Here is a summary of some of the findings from the recent community consultation. Among Participants:

  • 168 map submissions and 111 survey submissions were received via Participate Melbourne
  • Some observations were made around the need to upgrade the Brens Pavillion facilities. The data collected in regards to this will be reported to the Libraries and Recreation City of Melbourne team as it is out of scope for this project.
  • A common theme from the responses was for improved carpark management in Royal Park. Lighting and security was also a common theme.
  • Another commonly discussed challenge was the high levels of vehicle traffic along the internal and surroundings roads.
  • The most popular reasons to visit the park were to exercise, play sport and enjoy the natural environment.
  • Around half of participants said that they visit the park on average one to three times per week.
  • Most of the participants said they have more than one reason for visiting Royal Park.
  • Driving is the most common form of transport to get to destinations within Royal Park.
  • Walking is also a popular way for people to get around the park (for those using the park for recreation and leisure).

The final report, which will summarise all the finding of the Transport Assessment, is expected to be finalised later in the year.
