We’re delivering a new and expanded Southbank Library alongside enhancements to the Boyd Community Hub to better serve the rapidly growing and diverse Southbank community. The project includes relocating the library to a new 900m² space within the adjacent Boyd Village building, increasing its size and offering 30% more books, additional study and lounge areas, and a larger children’s library.

Fit-out works for the new library, located near the Boyd Community Hub, are now underway inside the building and are not expected to impact access to the surrounding area. We look forward to welcoming you into the new library before the end of 2026.

The Boyd Community Hub will also be refurbished to deliver expanded family and children’s services, new spaces and increased programming. This project is currently in the design phase and works are expected to take place in 2027.

Community feedback was gathered from July to August 2025 to help shape the library’s services, program mix and accessibility, as well as inform improvements to the Boyd Community Hub to ensure both facilities meet current and future community needs.
