Climate and gender equality - implications and actions for Melbourne

City of Melbourne and United Nations Association of Australia (Victoria) are proud to be partnering to deliver a Climate and Sustainable Development Goals event series in 2026.

Join us for the second event in the series, Climate and Gender Equality: implications and actions for Melbourne.

Climate change does not affect everyone equally. Women and girls are disproportionately impacted by climate-driven disasters, displacement, and economic insecurity—both globally and here in Melbourne. This timely event brings together expert voices and global insights to explore how climate change intersects with gender equality, and what this means for local action.

Join UN Women Australia (Victorian Chapter), the City of Melbourne and UNAA Victoria for an evening of discussion and reflection, featuring report‑backs from major international forums including CSW70 in New York and Women Deliver 2026 in Melbourne. Together, we’ll consider how global commitments on gender justice and climate action can be translated into meaningful outcomes for women and girls in our city, and identify opportunities for leadership and action at the local level.
