The Forward Faster initiative aims to increase accountability and transparency by calling for companies to publicly declare their commitments and highlight the actions they will undertake to meet the targets.

Five areas of action have been selected because they have the power to accelerate progress across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and are where the private sector can collectively make the biggest, fastest impact by 2030. The five areas are

• gender equality (target example: equal representation, participation and leadership across all levels of management by 2030)
• climate action (target example: net zero emissions reductions by X year)
• living wage (target example: 100 per cent of employees across the organisation earn a living wage by 2030)
• water resilience (target example: build water resilience across operations and supply chains)
• finance and investment (target example: align corporate investment with SDG policies).
