The West Gate Tunnel Project includes new tunnels under Yarraville, the widening of the West Gate Freeway, new bridges across the Maribyrnong River and an elevated freeway connecting to CityLink, the Port of Melbourne, Footscray Road, Dynon Road and Wurundjeri Way. The Port to City section of the project is within the City of Melbourne municipality.

The Minister for Planning, the Hon Richard Wynne, released his Assessment of the environmental effects of the West Gate Tunnel Project. He released the IAC’s report at the same time. The Minister’s assessment is the final step in the EES process under the Environment Effects Act.
