Committee calls for commissioning of Human Rights Charter

At its meeting on 6 April 2017, Council’s Submissions (Section 223) Committee, comprising Martin Cutter, Rob Adams and Linda Weatherson, called on management to commission a Human Rights Charter – Assessment of Compatibility (Charter assessment) on proposed changes to the Activities Local Law 2009. The Committee subsequently adjourned the meeting to allow time for members to consider all the verbal and written submissions received and the Charter assessment.

Please be advised, at its meeting on Wednesday 19 July 2017, the Committee is likely to further adjourn the proposal to a time and date in September 2017, so that adequate time is allowed to complete the review of all submissions received and to consider the Charter assessment in light of the review, prior to any recommendation being made to Council.
