We conducted community consultation to inform the Carlton Urban Forest Precinct Plans between February and June 2023.

During this time, we held multiple community pop up events, an online survey and a community workshop. Eighty-nine community members participated in either the workshop or the survey.

Community priorities, values and preferences directly inform the urban forest vision, character, priorities and the subsequent urban forest management in local areas.

We heard that the community vision for the future of Carlton’s urban forest is:

“Carlton’s future urban forest is a nature-filled paradise, a thriving ecosystem with a deep connection to its heritage (Indigenous and European) where people engage with nature, enjoy safe walking and cycling, and experience a cooler, biodiverse environment with diverse edible plants and wildlife living in trees, understorey, green roofs and walls”.
