Consultation summary available

The Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) 2026-2029 consultation summary is now available.

The first phase of consultation took place from 3 April to 29 April 2025. During this time, we received over 900 submissions from the community, who told us about their experiences with cats and dogs in the municipality and shared ideas on how we can best facilitate responsible pet ownership in the City of Melbourne.

We are now using these insights to create a draft DAMP, which will be presented to the Future Melbourne Committee in early July. We will then publish the draft DAMP on Participate Melbourne for a second phase of community consultation.

To find out what we heard in the first phase of engagement, read the consultation summary.
