A new report will guide ‘smart city’ conversations with community

September 8, 2022

City of Melbourne has partnered with Monash University’s Emerging Technologies Research Lab to learn about community values to guide the ways we not only capture, analyse and use data but, importantly, how we work with the community and communicate these projects.

The findings from the research are published in a new report – City Sensing Data Futures. The report shares insights from community workshops in Argyle Square as well as the scalable and transferrable set of values and recommendations that resulted from the workshops. These will guide the way we collaborate with the community on smart city projects.

A methodology to enable future research is shared in the report as well as examples of how the findings could lead to effective and engaging public signage that communicates data collection in the public realm.

Read the report now or follow the Communicating city sensing page to stay in the loop of future projects.
