Fishermans Bend, Australia’s largest urban renewal project is a centre of advanced manufacturing, engineering and design located across 480 hectares in Melbourne.

City of Melbourne invited entrepreneurs, individuals, universities, researchers, startup, scaleups and organisations to submit their creative applications of data and technology to harness opportunities and solve challenges in our future city spaces like Fishermans Bend.

The challenge statement asked:

As Fishermans Bend NEIC (National Employment and Innovation Cluster) continues to evolve its legacy as a site for innovation, how might we use data and technology to enable a shared and equal understanding of the impact of our daily choices, so we can drive change towards a more resilient future?

Six submissions were chosen as finalists; three from the Pilot stream and three from the Ideas stream.

On 28 July, in front of a live and online audience, these six concepts will be pitched to the judges and community. Prizes for the Ideas stream will be announced on the night, with all three entries sharing cash and prizes worth more than $20k. The Pilot pitches will battle it out to win over the judges and the community, with the winner getting the opportunity to work with City of Melbourne’s Emerging Technology Testbed team to bring their Pilot to life.
