Meet our new testbed project

September 6, 2024

Your votes helped choose this exciting new pilot, where smart tech meets worm composting to drive a more circular and healthy Fishermans Bend.

More than 700 votes were received to help determine the winning idea in this year’s Fishermans Bend Digital Innovation Challenge. Accounting for 57 per cent of votes and combined with the judges’ scores, the winner was determined as Upsoil Collective, a smart street-side worm composting solution.

This innovative idea by Melbourne landscape architect Zoe Wang and Sydney-based author and environmental consultant Michael Mobbs tackles food waste by transforming it into nutrient-rich compost through a local, visible and hassle-free urban composting design.

The other two finalists also proposed brave and brilliant solutions that would drive thriving biodiversity and circular community practices using smart tech designs in Fishermans Bend. Watch their pitches online.

The next chapter starts today, as we work together with the winning team to bring their idea to life in Fishermans Bend in 2025.
