Thank you for participating

Thank you for sharing your stories about the Hoddle Grid. We had 68 people nominate places in the Hoddle Grid and explain why they are important to them. Places are scattered evenly across the grid with small clusters at Flinders Street Station, the laneways around Flinders and La Trobe streets, along the length of Collins Street and in an area between Russell and Swanston streets. There is also a small cluster at the State Library of Victoria and its lawn and forecourt, and at Federation Square. You can explore these stories through the interactive map.

In addition to this, approximately 40 participants joined us on two interactive storytelling walking tours through the Hoddle Grid. Thanks to those who came and shared their personal connections to places such as the State Library of Victoria and Chinatown.

From the submissions received and stories shared at the walks, we understand that the Hoddle Grid is a place where people come together with friends, relatives and strangers to enjoy the cafes, cultural spaces, quirky laneways and open boulevards and to protest common causes; to appreciate the views and vistas and take in the aesthetics and character of the heritage buildings and landmark architecture.

In the coming months, we will begin a series of public events around the exhibition of the Hoddle Grid Heritage Review through Amendment C328. More details about those activities will be updated closer to the time.
