Upcoming works

14 May 2026

City of Melbourne, in partnership with the Victorian Government, is upgrading JJ Holland Park to improve sport and recreation opportunities for the Kensington community. The project includes new LED sports lighting on Oval 2 and two new LED scoreboards on Oval 1 and the synthetic pitch.

These upgrades will allow greater use of the park at night and during winter, supporting increased participation by local sports clubs and community groups.

Works are expected to start in late May and be completed by August 2026.

You can expect the following while works are underway:

  • The hours of work are 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work.
  • Temporary fencing and bollards will be in place around the work zone.
  • There will be an increase in noise and dust, but we’ll have measures in place to keep this to a minimum.
  • There will be more vehicles and trucks coming in and out of the site, with safety measures in place to keep park visitors safe.
  • Detour signage will be in place to safely guide pedestrians around the works zone.
