Concept design (2019)

Below is the draft concept design for the Kensington Community Aquatic and Recreation Centre (previously known as the Kensington Community Recreation Centre) that was presented for community consultation from September to October 2019. This version of the design was developed from the first phase of consultation, which took place in early 2019.

The draft design highlights features that responded to feedback we heard, with more flexible spaces, additional multipurpose courts and an improved pool. As part of our commitment to tackling climate change and reducing our emissions, the centre was also designed with a number of sustainability features.

The draft design included:

  • solar panels
  • a new green wall
  • water conservation measures
  • efficient heating and cooling systems
  • double glazing.

This draft concept design was released for public consultation from 2 September to 4 October 2019. Since then the design has been updated based on feedback we heard. See the updated Working Design (PDF 1013.78KB) from September 2020.
