City of Melbourne is planning to redevelop Kensington Community Recreation Centre to make sure its services remain relevant, affordable and accessible to the local community.

Kensington Community Recreation Centre originally opened more than 40 years ago. Aside from minor maintenance, the facility has remained relatively untouched since 1976.

We’ve been looking at recreational centres and their function within the community, and have been speaking with current tenants, YMCA and national sporting associations.

We want to hear from you – centre users and the Kensington community – to ensure the centre remains responsive to the needs of a growing community.

Community feedback will help us prepare a design brief for the redevelopment, which will be available for further consultation in mid 2019.

During February we will be running a series of pop-up sessions to discuss your ideas face-to-face with the team.
