Community members in the CBD have told us they would like to see more trees and greening in the inner city. MacKenzie Street has been identified as a priority tree planting street in the Central City Urban Forest Precinct Plan a key implementation tool of the Urban Forest Strategy.

What is being proposed?

The creation of a small park on the corner of MacKenzie and Victoria Streets as well as further street greening for MacKenzie Street. This will include:

  • 21 more trees for increased shade and urban forest resilience.
  • New garden beds to increase vibrancy and biodiversity.
  • Additional public seating and furniture.
  • Shorter and safer pedestrian crossing points.

We asked the community for their feedback from 12 February to 11 March 2024.
