The City of Melbourne is developing a new community library at the Munro site, in the heart of the Queen Victoria Market precinct. The facility will contain a library and creative makerspace. Family Services and a dedicated children’s library will be on level 3, along with a community rooftop terrace.

Last year we asked you, our community, what you valued in libraries and about your hopes for a future library service.

With your input, we developed the Future Libraries Framework, our guiding strategic document to support decision-making for the City of Melbourne’s libraries into the future.

We see the Future Libraries Framework in action already with the pop-up libraries opening across our municipality, extending the reach of the service to new users and into new areas, helping to reignite the city.

The Future Libraries Framework will also inform the new community library being built at Munro.

Consultation ran from 25 January until 6 March 2022.
