narrm ngarrgu Library and Family Services is now open

The highly anticipated narrm ngarrgu Library and Family Services within the Munro development of Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market precinct is now open.

The 3000 m2 facility, designed and developed in collaboration with the community and following the Future Libraries Framework 2021, offers a diverse range of resources and services across three floors.

narrm ngarrgu, meaning "Melbourne Knowledge" in the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung language, stands as a vibrant community hub encompassing:

  • A multi-level library: Featuring a dedicated children's library with spaces for play
  • Family services center: Providing crucial support for families with young children, including a parent room, playgroup room, secure outdoor play area, and maternal health consulting rooms
  • Community rooftop terrace: Offering views of the market precinct
  • Creative makerspace: Equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, paint booths, and sewing machines, empowering individuals to bring their ideas to life
  • Sound studios: Dedicated to fostering creativity and expression through podcasting and audio recording
  • Community study and events space and bookable meeting rooms
  • Curated artworks: reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of Melbourne.
