The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

Children’s Week 2023

Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children. It runs from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October, with thousands of children taking part in the festivities.

This year’s theme is based on UNCRC Article 31: Children have the right to relax, play and take part in activities they enjoy.

Children’s Week is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the contribution children and young people make to the City of Melbourne.

As a city for all people, we’re proud to support a range of activities and events for children, their families, parents and carers for Children’s Week and throughout the year. From Teddy Bear Picnics at our libraries to painting a mural at our playgroups, there’s plenty of ways to get involved in the fun.
