City of Melbourne is here to help

To address extreme heat risk in our neighbourhoods, we have launched The Heat Lab – a project testing community focused and place-based heat resilience solutions.

As part of this, pilot services and infrastructure to reduce heat risk will be delivered to:

  • raise awareness about the risks posed by extreme heat
  • engage people who are most vulnerable to heat and support with information and resources to reduce their risk
  • provide ‘cool places’ for the public during high temperatures
  • retrofit infrastructure / public space to boost shading and cooling

Follow Heatwaves to stay up to date on the project. For further information contact climate.adaptation@melbourne.vic.gov.au. To receive heatwave and extreme heat warnings, sign up to the Department of Health heat alerts.
