Australia Wharf and Collins Landing dredging works

August 21, 2023

City of Melbourne is upgrading Australia Wharf and Collins Landing to increase its capacity to house charter fleets. The dredging works will remove the silt build-up at Australia Wharf and Collins Landing caused by flooding events from last year.

We want to encourage people to visit Docklands and experience the vibrancy of our waterways. These works will help us provide better berthing facilities for charter vessels, supporting long-term business and improving services and infrastructure for residents and visitors.

When will the works take place?

Dredging works are anticipated to commence mid to late September 2023 and is expected to take approximately one month.

Normal dredging hours will be between 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday works will be required. There will be no night time works.

What’s happening?

Dredging works along the Yarra River near Collins Landing and Australia Wharf. An excavator/barge will be berthed alongside Australia Wharf during the entire period of the dredging works. A river traffic management plan will be put in place.

How could this impact you?

  • Access to properties and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
  • While we don’t anticipate a large amount of noise, we will have mitigation measures in place to minimise impact.
