‘Fab’ new festival launches in Southbank

May 2, 2024

A new festival at Southbank’s Boyd Community Centre with a mission to foster belonging and celebrate multicultural communities, will begin on 19 May.

Organised by the Active Southbank Community Association Inc, Festival at Boyd – or FAB – promises an inclusive, vibrant experience filled with activities, music, dance, and tasty cuisine.

“At FAB Southbank, we're not just about fun – we're also committed to championing sustainability,” organiser Sophy Galbally said.

“We’ll be promoting a circular economy, educating about waste reduction, and showcasing how sustainability can thrive even in high-rise living. There’ll be collection bins for unwanted clothing and cash for cans.”

Visitors will also be able to browse 30 preloved and homemade craft stalls, tantalise their taste buds with international cuisine, and groove to the beats of live music and multicultural dance on stage.

“There's something for everyone at FAB Southbank. From activities for children and showcasing indigenous edible plants with the Southbank Sustainability Group, to face painting. There’ll be no shortage of fun-filled moments,” Sophy said.

The festival will be held on three Sundays in 2024, from 10am – 4pm:

FAB Southbank is funded through a City of Melbourne Community Inclusion Grant.
