Creating a connected cycling network in West Melbourne

November 21, 2024

We plan to improve how bike riders get around Anderson Street, Ireland Street, Railway Place and Dryburgh Street, with upgraded bike lanes and signage.

This will make it safer for everyone moving around the area, no matter their type of transport. The lanes also connect to a new bridge along Dynon Road for pedestrians and cyclists that is opening soon as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project, making the journey seamless and safe for people coming into West Melbourne.

Work will start in early 2025 and take around a week to complete.

To view the proposed designs, visit our new bike lanes page and click on the 'Anderson Street/Ireland Street' tab.

If you have questions or feedback on the designs, contact Alistair McDonald, Senior Transport Engineer on 9658 9845 or alistair.mcdonald@melbourne.vic.gov.au by 19 December 2024.
