  • SafeCity

By Mohsen Anaraki and Nick Nimorakiotakis

A mobile application that helps the user to walk and use public transport in the City of Melbourne. It navigates from one point to another based on the safest route at that given time.

This solution will allow users to give feedback on different routes and inform about their perception of safety and accuracy of the data presented to them.

  • SafeKit

By Ritam Roy Burman, Dhwani Mehta, Harish Copula and Subramanian Rajan

SafeKit intends to solve two important problems. First, people feel unsafe to navigate through streets with low lighting and don't have quick ways to inform police about their location in case of peril.

Second, motorists feel tense about road safety rules, especially with road disruptions, events, traffic congestion and bad weather conditions. They need to be more informed about road rules and safety.

  • Lumino

By Dylan Kay, Blair Christensen and Lachlan Jacob

Tourists and travellers new to Melbourne need to rely on existing map applications to get around. Applications route their users based on the shortest path not the safest path.

Lumino is a next generation application that navigates users safely. It uses open data such as street lamp locations, real-time pedestrian counts, police station locations, PTV data sets and CLUE data to calculate smart routes that put users safety first.

  • Guardian

    By Richard Lipp

Guardian is a simple to use application that utilises open data to enable safe mobility through the city for everyone.

It enables people to map a safe route through the city, avoid dangerous areas, and keep loved ones informed of their location and safety status. It also ensures vulnerable people are empowered and have an added level of safety and reassurance wherever they go.

  • Comfort Cycling

    By Ruta Kniukstaite

The Comfort Cycling application aims to provide a lower-stress cycling experience.

It helps to guide people within their current network, and provides council with qualitative data that can be translated into more efficient urban planning.

  • Safe

By James Grose, Kristy Buchanan, Eliza Ackland and Isabella Wood

Safe solves the problem of helping people get home safely. The solution shifts the perception of safety from an individual responsibility, to a collective one. It empowers users to tap into their support networks as they navigate through Melbourne, while providing a framework for escalation in case of emergency.

Sick of rallying together after horrific events, Safe helps Victorians rally together to prevent them.
