Competition launching soon

February 15, 2019

We’re officially launching the 2019 Open Innovation Competition on 7 March at our Melbourne Conversations event, exploring the theme of safety and the city.

Featuring a panel of expert speakers, we will ask the question, “What is your utopian vision of moving through Melbourne’s metropolis of the future safely and securely?”

Our speakers will delve into the challenges and propose ways we can create safer public spaces, build confidence around all types of travel and transportation, deal more effectively with city disruption and help everyone feel safe when travelling through the city at all times.

Following the panel discussion we’ll kick off the 2019 Open Innovation Competition, calling for submissions from innovators, entrepreneurs, businesses, students and the community to address the safety needs and concerns of people who travel through our city.

With a prize pool of $30,000 and major prizes including entry to the MAP Velocity program for early-stage startups and a trip to the Bundung Institute of Technology in Indonesia up for grabs, there is every reason to apply you or your team’s talents and technologies to make our streets safer for everyone.

Melbourne Conversations is a series of free discussions in the city presented by Knowledge Melbourne exploring issues and topics of interest to all Melburnians.
