The City of Melbourne called on innovators, entrepreneurs, students and community members to take part in the Open Innovation Competition 2019 and find ways to improve safety for our city’s 920,000 daily visitors and residents.

Now in its second year, the Open Innovation Competition 2019 is designed to tap into the creativity and expertise of our community, and stimulate new ideas and effective solutions.

The theme for this year’s competition is ‘safe mobility’ and will focus on four opportunity areas:

  • public spaces
  • transportation
  • city disruption
  • the city at night time

Participants were encouraged to incorporate data and emerging technology into their solutions to address these common urban challenges.

Submissions for the Open Innovation Competition are now closed and the winners have been announced.
