Fix your Woollens (darning and needle-felting)

Repairing your pre-loved clothes is a commitment to a greener planet and cost-effective. At this event, you will learn how to add colour to your woollens for a visible repair and how to colour match wool to repair as invisible as possible, as well as technical skills on the different forms of darning and how to needle felt to fix those holes.


What will we cover?

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced menders. The session will cover the following:

  • We will begin the session with some mending basics including different types of darning and the art of needle felting.
  • We will then discuss how you can prepare your woollens for repair, and discuss the various techniques you are able to implement to fix those items.
  • Finally it will be time to get creative, applying refined repair techniques to your beautiful woollens.

What to bring:

  • Your woollens that have stains, rips or holes that need repairing
  • Feel free to bring any fabric, yarn or embellishments you may like to add too
  • And most importantly bring your imagination and enthusiasm!

What is provided:

  • Darning tools and a range of wool yarn
  • Needle felting tools and wool fibre

No prior knowledge is required for attendees.

While this talk is free, it requires registration as seats are limited.
