Discussion Paper 1 (Improving Waste Collection in the Central City) released

June 5, 2018

A Discussion Paper one titled Improving Waste Collection in the Central City has been launched to coincide with World Environment Day (Tuesday 5 June). The paper examines the issues and proposes some possible solutions.

Bins being stored outside and multiple collection trucks visiting laneways every day is resulting in a range of negative impacts such as noise, traffic congestion, odour and visual pollution. Reducing amenity impacts from waste collection is one of the four priorities in the draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy. This Discussion Paper provides further insights and identifies some options that could help to improve the current system.

The Discussion Paper is available for download from the Document Library.
