Discussion Paper 2 (Food Waste) released

June 18, 2018

A Discussion Paper titled Food Waste has been launched to examine the issues and propose some possible solutions to this complex and problematic waste stream.

Food waste has substantial economic and environmental impacts. Separating food waste for recovery requires additional effort and there collection and processing services are not always readily available. There are some great examples of reduction and recycling programs overseas which could provide a model for how we can reduce and recover food waste in City of Melbourne.

The Discussion Paper is available for download from the document library.

Feedback on the Discussion Paper and the draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy is requested via the feedback form or by emailing engineering@melbourne.vic.gov.au.
