The conversation

For six weeks, between 13 October and 29 November 2021, City of Melbourne and our partners at Melbourne Water notified locals and other interested parties about proposed changes to the Melbourne Planning Scheme.

Gathering insights

We sent notification letters to property owners and renters, Aboriginal Traditional Owners, government departments and planning authorities, industry peak bodies, emergency services, and local organisations to let them know about intended updates to flood overlays across parts of the city.

The letter encouraged people to find out more and get involved by visiting our website, registering for a virtual workshop, getting in touch with a question, or writing a formal submission.

We also promoted this opportunity in The Age, Victorian Government Gazette, through the Participate Melbourne e-newsletter and targeted emails.

In total, we reached at least 90,000 people through posted letters, website visits, newsletters, emails and media coverage.
