Proposed Sale of Land at 132 Kavanagh Street and new park concept

September 27, 2017

Council is advertising its intention to sell 132 Kavanagh Street pursuant to sections 189 and 223 of the Local Government Act 1989. The advertising period will run from 27 September until 25 October 2017. Any person may make a submission on the Proposal. For more information, visit public notices.

Changes to the development site and park boundary

The development site has been reduced in size to provide a better park and community centre outcome. The new development site boundary will result in:

  • An increased park area
  • Improved pedestrian access from City Road and to trams
  • Better street interfaces for park and heritage building
  • Better relationship between park, development site and heritage building
  • Better ability to address flood levels

The revised site boundary was determined following new site analysis to comply with the changed planning framework (amendment C270).

A revised development brief will be released later this year to coincide with the public tender process.

Draft park concept plan

We are planning to release a draft park concept for public consultation in November 2017.
