For more than 20 years, Council has allocated over $150 million to artists and arts organisations via different funding models and mechanisms. Council has offered this investment to meet strategic commitments to develop and support creative activity in the municipality.

Peer-assessment has been essential for making recommendations to Council. City of Melbourne takes an ‘arm’s length’ approach to decision making by enabling peer-assessment when making grant funding decisions.

City of Melbourne is currently reviewing how to best use public funds when providing arts grants and residencies. As a key stakeholder, we value your help in shaping a refreshed, inclusive and relevant framework.

This digital survey is one input into an extensive consultation process. You may therefore also be asked to join us for a focus group session or 1:1 discussion in the coming weeks.

The survey was open until Tuesday 21 March 2023.

City of Melbourne will post key findings and insights from this survey on Participate Melbourne and on our Grants and sponsorship page. Findings will be available by mid-April 2023.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable input.
