Greenline reveals new plans for revitalised Birrarung Marr

July 29, 2022

Melburnians and visitors will soon be enjoying a lush, green river edge as the City of Melbourne releases its exciting plans for the first stage of the transformative The Greenline Project.

The project is set to deliver more than 450 metres of new boardwalk and paths within the Birrarung Marr precinct, including a six metre-wide promenade to provide a safer, more scenic journey along the north bank of the Yarra River – Birrarung.

Melburnians are encouraged to have their say on the draft plans for Birrarung Marr Precinct Site One, beginning Tuesday 2 August. Community consultation will remain open for six weeks.

The opening of community engagement for this project marks the beginning of the first stage of The Greenline Project, which will deliver an uninterrupted 4 km journey from Birrarung Marr to the Bolte Bridge.

Works along the river edge in Birrarung Marr are expected to commence by mid-2023.
