In line with the City of Melbourne’s Urban Forest Strategy and upgrades suggested by local residents and business owners, we are proposing to improve the look, feel and function of Scarborough Place in Kensington through:
- the introduction of canopy cover with large deciduous trees that create shade in summer and visual impact
- road narrowing, to reduce the number and speed of ‘through vehicles’ adding to street safety
- street gardens with biodiverse understory planting, to encourage a healthy ecology.
We understand that these streets are a key part of your neighbourhood and are where locals spend valuable time. Together, we have the opportunity to finalise a plan for this street that will improve the look and liveability, contributing to the sense of place and character of the community for you, your family and generations to come.
Our traffic and drainage engineers, along with landscape design experts collaborated on an initial concept plan, which was open for community consultation from 11 March to 1 April 2021. Feedback gathered will be analysed and used to refine the final designs.
