Future Melbourne Committee meeting

November 27, 2020

The final design for the Kensington Community Recreation Centre will be considered by Council at the Future Melbourne Committee meeting on 1 December 2020.

Over two rounds of consultation we received considerable feedback, much of which has been incorporated into the final design.

Changes that have been incorporated include:

  • Re-orientation of the main entrance and café to face JJ Holland Park.
  • An expansion of the swimming pool from six lanes to eight lanes.
  • An indoor water play area with spouts and fountains available all year round.
  • An increased number of multi-purpose courts.
  • An expanded gym, five times the size of the current offering.
  • Multipurpose rooms to cater to wide range of activities and community needs.
  • Significant environmental sustainable features.
  • Upgraded change facilities including family change rooms and accessible adult change facility.
