Kensington Community Recreation Centre is now closed for redevelopment

September 9, 2021

Kensington Community Recreation Centre is on its way to being redeveloped and the centre is now closed. Due to ongoing lockdowns, we were unfortunately unable to reopen the centre before redevelopment commenced.

The redevelopment will bring state-of-the art facilities to the community, including a 25-metre pool with additional swimming lanes, a water play area, health and wellness areas, three indoor multi-sports courts, three large flexible spaces suitable for a range of classes and community use, accessible change rooms including an adult accessible change facility, a wrap-around café with multiple access points, community spaces and better integration with JJ Holland Park.

Construction updates

Once a contractor has been appointed for this project, the project team will provide nearby residents with regular updates regarding construction timeframes and any expected impacts.

Works are likely to commence at the end of 2021 and be completed by 2023.
