A new and innovative raingarden for Fishermans Bend

April 21, 2023

The Remix Raingarden pilot seeks to reimagine raingardens using only recycled materials. Testing is underway in Fishermans Bend

Just down the road from Docklands, the Fishermans Bend Remix Raingarden pilot is a live science experiment using plants, stormwater and sensors to put recycled materials to the test in a raingarden. Over the next few months, we’ll be collecting data to see how well the gardens can manage stormwater flow and foster healthy environments for plants and animals.

Come anytime from 26 April and learn about these special gardens and how they can help Docklands and other neighbourhoods become more climate-resilient, now and in the future. The gardens are located just ten minutes from the city or Docklands on bike or e-scooter, or catch a bus with the whole family.

Join us at our official launch to celebrate this milestone; Innovations with water: design for a climate-resilient city. Guest speaker Professor Tony Wong from Water Sensitive Cities Australia will share his insights on how water projects can help make cities and precincts like Fishermans Bend more liveable, sustainable, and climate prepared. The Remix Raingarden team will present the raingardens as an example of a circular economy innovation for water-sensitive urban design.
