December 1, 2022

The Greenline Project consultation summary is now available.

The Greenline Project is our transformational program that will revitalise 4km of public space along the north bank of the Yarra River – Birrarung.

Community consultation took place from 1 August to 12 September 2022.

We heard that it is important to you that planning for The Greenline Project supports:

  • active transport options through improving pedestrian connectivity and cycling amenity
  • connection to nature and increasing tree canopy in addition to including grassed area
  • the ecological health of the Yarra River – Birrarung
  • safety and security in the area
  • universal access including multiple access points, clear wayfinding and signage
  • celebrating the rich history of the site including Aboriginal culture, history and local stories
  • play and recreation for all ages in all seasons.

The feedback we heard will be used to refine the concept designs for Birrarung Marr Precinct Site One. The views and values heard throughout the engagement will also inform the overall Greenline Project, including ongoing Precinct Planning.

Find out more about what we heard on the community consultation page.

The draft concept design is now going to the Future Melbourne Committee on Tuesday 6 December - read the meeting agenda.
