Our city is a dynamic place made up of ten unique neighbourhoods - Carlton, Parkville, East Melbourne, West Melbourne, North Melbourne, Kensington, Docklands, South Yarra, Southbank and the CBD Hoddle Grid – all with their own needs, services and priorities.
In 2021, we began working with a Neighbourhood Model featuring a Neighbourhood Planning Framework focussing on listening to your voices to help us plan our services and activities, and develop our new digital Neighbourhood Portals. Our first two portals – CBD and Kensington – can be explored below.
In March and April 2022, to help us develop the next eight portals, we consulted with the neighbourhoods of Carlton, Docklands, East Melbourne, North Melbourne, Parkville, Southbank, South Yarra and West Melbourne.
In August and September 2022, we shared what we heard during those two months, and the draft neighbourhood priorities we identified.
Take a journey through our first two Neighbourhood Portals
The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection the Wurundjeri, Bunurong, Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wadawurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin have to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
We are committed to our reconciliation journey, because at its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, for the benefit of all Victorians.
