Peoples Panel meets for first time

October 12, 2018

The first People’s Panel workshop took place on Wednesday 10 October, kicking off a deliberative process on where and how best to deliver trader and customer infrastructure within the market precinct.

The Lord Mayor officially welcomed the 40 panel members, before senior representatives from the City of Melbourne and Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd outlined the context of the market site and the market renewal program to date. The panel explored how this diverse group will work together over the four workshops. This infographic provides a snapshot of the demographic representation within the group.

The panel will meet again this Saturday, with many participants taking part in a tour to better understand the current operations and context of the site.

The Panel will define the principles that will guide their deliberations and development of recommendations, before exploring the detail of the market’s current operational challenges and the identified needs of the market, its traders and customers.

Building from this, panel members will start to create and consider options for the delivery and location of trader and customer facilities within the market.

We’ll share more updates following the next workshop.
