The City of Melbourne is creating better experiences of public space within Docklands and surrounding areas. To boost healthy living, we want to support the local community to use and get active at Ron Barassi Snr Park.
Ron Barassi Snr Park was created to provide increased opportunities for sport and recreation to the local community in and around Docklands. The park caters to a range of activities from AFL 9’s, soccer, touch and modified sports. It’s also perfect for sports fitness classes, tai chi, yoga and more. Indoor and out, night or day. The adjoining sports pavilion includes a social room, commercial kitchen and change room facilities for recreational purposes.
Ron Barassi Snr Park officially opened in October 2015 and is managed by the City of Melbourne. Stage One of the park has been completed and includes a formal sports facility with a sports field and pavilion. The precinct also has a children’s playground, BBQ facilities and car park that are accessible by the general public.
Stage One of the park was delivered with funding from Development Victoria as part of the Docklands Community and Place Plan (2012) Docklands Community and Place Plan.
The park is located adjacent to the Bolte Bridge, at the end of Docklands Drive and is accessible by car, foot, bicycle and tram. The closest train station is Southern Cross.
Last year we consulted the community to hear how you use or would like to use the park.
Feedback was collected at a number of pop-up sessions at Docklands and an Open Day at Ron Barassi Snr Park.
294 responses were collected and collated in a Community Consultation Summary. The summary describes what we heard and what actions we're taking in response to the feedback.
