Additional documents added to the draft Royal Park Master Plan library

December 24, 2024

To provide additional context to the draft Royal Park Master Plan, two key background documents have now been added to the document library.

As per the Future Melbourne Committee (FMC) Notice of Motion on the 10 September 2024, Council is pleased to provide the Conservation Management Plan (CMP), including Aboriginal Cultural Values. The CMP has been provided to outline the historical context of Royal Park. This document was developed over 4 years in conjunction with GML Heritage and Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Cultural Heritage Corporation. This document provides the historical foundation for the draft Royal Park Master Plan.

The Royal Park Master Plan Biodiversity and Ecology report has also been provided to outline the key suggestions for improved biodiversity in Royal Park. Especially as Royal Park is the most biodiverse park in the city, this report helps to identify benefits, opportunities, threats, issues, possible conflicts, potential actions and best-practice approaches for protecting and enhancing the ecological and biodiversity conservation values of the park. This report was developed over the last 12 months with the University of Melbourne with key experts in their fields.

These additional documents offer valuable insights and a comprehensive understanding of the historical and ecological aspects of Royal Park. These documents have supported the development of the draft Master Plan.

Read the document library and complete the survey to provide your feedback on the draft Royal Park Master Plan. Consultation closes 5pm Friday 14 February.
