The City of Melbourne is pleased to announce that Fulham Place and Collins Way are now smoke-free areas. This is part of our commitment to protect the community from passive smoking. We are proud to be creating healthy environments for people to live, learn, work and play.

Following extensive community engagement on determining whether Fulham Place and Collins Way should be smoke-free, the results were presented to Council on Tuesday 4 September.

Results from the community engagement report included:

  • The vast majority of people (61%) who took part in a survey were in favour of the proposed smoke-free areas, 26% had a neutral opinion and 13% rejected the proposal.
  • 75% of those who completed an online survey were in favour of the proposed smoke-free areas, 2% had a neutral opinion and 23% rejected the proposal.
  • 68% of businesses surveyed were in favour of the smoke-free areas. There were no businesses opposed to the proposal.
