Outcome of proposal to make The Tan and Princes Park running Tracks smoke-free

May 31, 2016

The City of Melbourne is committed to protecting the community from passive smoking by expanding smoke-free areas. We are proud to be creating healthy environments for people to live, learn, work and play.

The results from the smoke-free areas community engagement on The Tan and Princes Park running tracks were presented to Council on Tuesday 3 May, 2016. The Community Engagement report showed that the majority of visitors to the running tracks, sporting clubs and general community supported smoking bans in both locations.

After carefully considering all feedback, Council voted to endorse the recommendations. Minutes of the meeting can be viewed on the Council and Committee Meetings page.

The City of Melbourne will ensure the community is fully informed about the new smoking bans and will work closely with the community to promote these areas becoming smoke-free.
