City of Melbourne’s draft Budget 2021–22 will activate the city, support businesses and keep Melburnians in jobs. It also delivers an historic investment in infrastructure.


Key draft Budget 2021–22 facts:
  • This is a $789.9 million city-shaping Budget. The biggest ever delivered by the City of Melbourne.
  • We are delivering more than $50 million in waste collection, cleaning and graffiti removal.
  • We are delivering a $21.5 million program of events.
  • This will be boosted by the $200 million jointly funded Melbourne City Revitalisation Fund to be delivered over the next two years.
  • We will be delivering $4.8 million in rates discounts
  • With a forecast deficit of $26.2 million, we’ve achieved a $31 million turnaround since delivering a $57.4 million deficit in last year’s COVID-19 recovery budget.
  • We are investing $244.7 million in infrastructure – our largest infrastructure program ever.
  • We will be returning to surplus in 2022–23
